It is good for the pups to have challenges. Nothing too scary or difficult for them to handle. A barrier was made with various objects between the living room and the kitchen. At first there was some whining, but after a while they realized no one was going to pick them up and carry them over the barrier. They climbed and learned. Then a pair of clippers were left running near their food bowl. It took them a while, but they figured out the clippers would not hurt them and resumed eating. This is so good for developing confidence and problem solving.
