Ch. Statesman's Let It Be CHIC JH RA recently developed a condition called myositis of his jaw muscles. Myositis occurs when the body's immune system attacks the muscles, causing chronic inflammation and weakness.
Three weeks ago Darwin woke up in the morning unable to open his mouth. He was immediately taken to the veterinarian where he was examined. With the diagnosis of myositis he was prescribed prednisone. After ten days on prednisone Darwin's condition had only marginally improved on the prednisone so Darwin was then seen by a specialist who added cyclosporine along with the prednisone.
Darwin appears to be making more improvement. He will go back to the specialist in two weeks.
Darwin is pictured below at a recent hunting test. Thank you, Aki, for this photo.
