If you ask Welsh springer breeders or owners of mixed gender Welsh springers, most will tell you that a female is head of the pack. It has been observed at Statesman for decades. The female pack leader is not aggressive, but very calm. She rules quietly with looks toward the misbehaving pack member, but rarely a twinge of her lips.
Right now, Little Girl is making life a bit difficult for Big Boy. She not only likes to take Big Boy down, she ignores his screams as she drags him by his ear.
In time, her development will allow her more ways to rule her pack psychologically.
