Blaze weighs about seven pounds while Little Boy weighs about eleven pounds. They visit the vet on Monday for their check ups and first vaccinations.
Historically, the original AKC standard for Welsh springer spaniels did not include any height or weight guidelines. However, over the years I have noticed that unless a breeder is selecting for big or little, in the end, they come out in the middle. Considering that there are other sporting spaniels of various sizes, they all seem quite capable of locating birds in the field, flushing them up into the air, then retrieving them back to the handler.
